Cash for a Connected World
MONERO – WHICH MEANS ‘coin’ in Esperanto – is designed to be a private, secure and untraceable cryptocurrency. Created in April 2014, it’s an open -source and crowdfunded project, being developed by a core group of seven developers, five of which have chosen to remain anonymous.
Approximately 22% of the world’s economy operates under the radar, including places such as Greece and Venezuela where governments have failed their citizens or authoritarian regimes like China. So there is an opportunity for coins that prioritize privacy. Monero hit mainstream news in December 2017 when over 45 musicians started accepting Monero in their online stores, including Mariah Carey, Dolly Parton, Marilyn Manson and Lana del Rey.
“As cryptocurrencies become more popular, it’s important that my fans have choices when it comes to how they buy my songs and merchandise,” said rap star G-Eazy. “Given Monero is one of the safest, most secure and most private cryptocurrencies, it’s one of the best options for my fans this holiday season — and just in time for my new album.”
