Request Network (REQ)

A Global Decentralized Accounting System

WHAT’S WRONG with the current financial payment system? Today, making a payment requires trusting centralized services to look after our information and identity. We have trusted them, and they have largely failed, either deliberately betraying trust with greed, of through carelessness. The trade off with using PayPal, for example, is that we have to sacrifice our legal rights if something goes wrong with the transaction. With credit cards, we’re protected but charged 1.51% on every single swiped transaction.

Request Network (REQ) is a decentralized network, built on Ethereum, which allows anyone, anywhere to request a payment without involving a third party. The request, which is fulfillable with every global currency, is logged on a permanent, transparent public ledger for accounting and auditing. This new universal system will mean that companies will be able to fully trust one another’s records without audits. No more paper trails or accounting and auditing fees. No more cooking the books.

Request has partnerships in place with ZeroX, Kyber Network, Civic and Aragon. The team, based in Singapore and Amsterdam, has experience with finance and blockchain projects and were chosen as part of the Silicon Valley incubator Y Combinator class of 2017. Y Combinator previously mentored Airbnb, Dropbox and Stripe.
